The Progressive era was
a wide and varied movement that changed American values and lifestyles having
everlasting impact on American history. Throughout the history of the United
States, there have been many reform movements that took place and change the
course of the history. The two major reform movements were the progressive
movement and women right movement. Both movements were instrumental in helping

problem and rapid industrialization that was introduced to America. Progressive era began as social movement and grew into political movement. In
progressive Era muckrakers or yellow journalist tried to expose corruption in
business practice. The progressive reformers moved government into correct
flaws and improved social equality. There is one part in particular that helped

exposes the unsanitary condition in food and meat packing. Upton describes such
a things as rats in sewage, cut of finger and spoiled meat being repacking and
sold to people. People during progressive era were eating unsanitary food and
they were sick. During progressive era lot of people died due to unsanitary
condition in their apartments. The working condition was poor and harsh.
Children were working in factory. People were working long hours 12-16 hours a
day. The president during progressive
era Theodore Roosevelt and many others people read Upton book and make congress
pass a law. The Federal Meat Inspection Act of 1906 works to prevent misbranded
meat and meat products from being sold to people. It’s also allowing government
to inspected meat packing factories.
The women rights movement of the 19thcentury

congress pass 19th amendment in 1919, and ratified on 1920, the amendment
granted women the right to vote. The 19th amendment also guarantees that all
American women have the right to vote. World War I and II encourage women to
work in the factory to support the war. At this point lot of women enjoys
economic benefit of working outside the house and remained in the workplace permanently.
Women’s get rights to vote, but there are still issues. Women should have voice to talk about their
problems. The major way to solve the problems is women should go to areas of
high position in politics, business, and education. The same number of women
and men belong to the area of politics, business, and education. It will make a
