Throughout the history of the United States, there have been many reform movements that took place and change the course of the history. The two major reform movements were the progressive movement and women right movement. Both movements were instrumental in helping people gain equality in society.
The progressive movements (Era) goals were to eliminate corruption in business practice and protecting consumers. Also applied to variety of responses to economic, social problem and rapid industrialization that was introduced to America. Progressive era began as social movement and grew into political movement. In progressive Era muckrakers or yellow journalist tried to expose corruption in business practice. The progressive reformers moved government into correct flaws and improved social equality. There is one part in particular that helped progressive era Upton Sinclair book called “the jungle”. “The Jungle” exposes the unsanitary condition in food and meat packing. Upton describes such a things as rats in sewage, cut of finger and spoiled meat being repacking and sold to people. People during progressive era were eating unsanitary food and they were sick. During progressive era lot of people died due to unsanitary condition in their apartments. The working condition was poor and harsh. Children were working in factory. People were working long hours 12-16 hours a day.  The president during progressive era Theodore Roosevelt and many others people read Upton book and make congress pass a law. The Federal Meat Inspection Act of 1906 works to prevent misbranded meat and meat products from being sold to people. It’s also allowing government to inspected meat packing factories.
The women rights movement of the 19thcentury unified women issues that were seen as basic rights for women. The women's rights movement rose during the 19th century in America in order to response to the inequalities between women and men. At this point lot of women enjoys economic benefit of working outside the house and remained in the workplace permanently. Women’s get rights to vote, but there are still issues.  Women should have voice to talk about their problems. The major way to solve the problems is women should go to areas of high position in politics, business, and education. community service

Fowler High School recognizes that each student is an individual; that all students are creative; that all students need to succeed. Therefore, Fowler High School respects the individual needs of students. I have always considered myself a very promising student. I have worked extremely hard and received high grades. I have a close knit group of friends and my teachers and I have mutual respect for each other. I believe that community service and volunteerism are very important. The best thing a person can donate their time. I feel it's every individual's responsibility to help others in their community and beyond. There are many ways that I feel I would benefit from community service in my high school.it would take the focus off of me and make me more aware of the world and people around me. Today it seems that everybody is so wrapped up in themselves and material items that they lose sight of the things in life that truly make you happy.  The good feelings you get when you're able to help somebody out are more rewarding than a paycheck. I feel it would help me develop better knowledge by planning and organizing note for U.S history class and grading papers that done by student. It’s difficult for many people to work as a team and compromise their ideas. It's important to know when to take step and take charge, and when it's time to sit back and listen to others ideas. I feel that the sooner you learn to work with others, the better off you are. I believe that community service prior to graduation will give me a better idea of what to expect once I'm graduated. A lot of people enter the workforce with no prior knowledge or experience. The knowledge and experience I feel like I would do anything when I graduate from high school. My most memorable experience is when we do jazz chants. Jazz chants book have many rhythm that Mr. Conley and i change that rhythm into U.S history events. We gather student and sing that rhythm.my personal reaction to act of preforming community service that I was surprise. I spend almost a month with U.S history teacher. He is so humble. Sometimes he make do torture student with U.S history review packet and sometime I grade papers for him. Mr. Conley and I make tests and quiz's that student will take in order to pass the class and for U.S history knowledge.my reaction was positive and it’s have positive impact in my life such as doing community service help you become more responsible towards your work and school. I do feel that I made difference in my life. When I perform community service I feel that we can help others in much different way, because sometimes people do community service just for people around them and they want to help them and sometimes people do community service for school. I feel that i do community service for me and experience i never had working experience so I had working experience when i do community service. The impact that community service is that activity that many people want to accomplish, but don’t always make the time. Everyone is so busy with family and work, it make tough to make volunteering a priority. Volunteering not only makes an impact on the greater community, but it impacts your family and friends directly. Preforming community service help in your community people to do same things as you doing and it also make your family and friend follow you to make difference in their community.
